Halistra Pottery embodies everything that is intoxicating about the Pottery Studio - "Ceramics that are traditionally stunning, highly practical and yet truly affordable - Beauty with Usefulness."

Clay has always, both past and present, held an awesome fascination for mankind. It is a tremendously versatile substance which has been shaped and formed since the Ice Age. With the three basic elements of clay, pigment and glaze the inspired potter will be able to create well-known shapes that have individual lives of their own.

The Artist Potter who breathes life into Halistra Pottery is Neal Hately, whose spirited contemporary slipware designs are much sought after not only for their hard-wearing and serviceable qualities but also for their bold colours and brilliant glazes.

Neal is a potter dedicated to the concepts held by the Studio Pottery movement of the early 1900's - the feel of the clay may be seductive but the end product must be fresh and functional.

The British Isles has a well-deserved reputation for excellence in the production of earthenware and Halistra Pottery is a typical example of that continuing esteem.
